Times change, trends change, and technology changes faster than we realise – which means what was once a shiny new logo or website can quickly become dated and old. So how do you give your brand a fresh new look, whilst maintaining the integral look and feel of your business? This week at ipCreative we are investigating five simple ways you can make your brand pop.
Tip 2: Get a feel for your font Fonts, like design trends, go in and out of fashion. A font can make the difference between a logo, graphic or website that is professional and readable, or rough and thrown together.
For nearly every design project out there, a simple, readable font is the best way to go. Scripts and handwriting can be hard to read and stressful on the eyes. Some fonts are just plain bad taste, like Comic Sans; Courier is a default font and can look like a mistake. Some fonts, like Bleeding Cowboys, have become so overused they have lost any sense of uniqueness.
If you really love a stylised font and must have it, try using it for headers only, and contrasting it with something simple for your text.
We used a handwriting font for titles on our client Hudson Road Family Centre’s website to convey a sense of friendliness and approachability, and contrasted it with a simple, readable font for the text.
